A lifetime of respect for licensed PEs
National Society of Professional Engineers

Every day, you face difficult decisions. The public depends on you to make the right decisions and protect their well-being.

As you progress in your career, questions of ethics and professional conduct become more important to your responsibilities. NSPE is the organization that brings together like-minded people of integrity to work together to uphold the strongest quality standards.

NSPE represents credentialed engineers like you who subscribe to the Engineers Creed and take the high road. This is your invitation to become a part of this elite group.

Now membership brings you choices. There are FIVE DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES with easy access and each one allows you to get involved a little or a lot:

  • The national society
  • Your state society
  • The chapter in your area
  • Practice divisions for special interests
  • Cyberspace – no borders, no boundaries

NSPE Gives You the Edge

NSPE's major initiatives are directed by its strategic plan and Consensus Congress:

  • Enhance the image of engineers with employers and the public
  • Provide professional and personal development for every stage of an engineer's career
  • Provide multiple networking forums for established professionals and engineers on the fast track
  • Take pride in telling the engineer's story
  • Encourage licensure as the ultimate recognition of professional competence
  • Create recognition and respect for licensure
  • Support activities that encourage students to explore engineering as a career

ETHICS CONSULTATION

Every day, NSPE receives calls from engineers with ethics questions. You'll find support at the national association to answer questions. Case studies will show how others made decisions. List serves allow access to other PEs when you are pondering alternatives. You are not alone. Ethics consultation is available in many different ways.

NSPE has assistance available on ethics education – often required for continuing education credits.

ENGINEERING NEWS

Quick read review of the hottest engineering news comes to you each week in U.S. Engineering Press Review – a free, e-mailed service available only to members. In minutes, you'll be up-to-date on the latest news – which you can then pass along to colleagues, clients or supervisors.

MENTORING EDGE

At this stage of your career, you are probably in a position to mentor young engineers or those coming along in their careers. By encouraging them to join NSPE as well, you keep them mindful of their responsibilities to the public and to the ethical conduct and the pride they deserve to have in this learned profession.
